A visit to Munich’s Oktoberfest can be expensive for families, but Tuesdays bring welcome relief. On “Familientag,” many rides, snack stands and tents offer discounts for children and adults until 7 p.m.
Discounted rides for children and adults
- Olympia Looping: normally €14, today €9.50 (same price for children and adults; minimum height 1.30m).
- Wellenflug swing carousel: €3.50 for adults instead of €5, and €3 for children instead of €4.50 (from age four).
- Krinoline carousel: celebrating its 100th Wiesn anniversary. Today €4 for adults instead of €6, while children under 12 ride free (regular €2.50).
- Willenborg Ferris Wheel: €7 for adults instead of €10, €3 for children up to 1.40m (regular €4).
- Munich slide (Münchner Rutschn): €3 for adults instead of €4, €2 for children instead of €3.
Cheaper sweets and souvenirs
- Chocolate fruit skewers at Wilhelm Schneller’s traditional candy stand: €4 instead of €7.
- Wood-burned souvenirs at Christine Reinke’s stall: small clothespins (“Glupperl”) €2 instead of €3; larger boards €20 instead of €30 (custom inscriptions possible).
- Shooting gallery (Gerlinde Kraus): 10 shots for €7, 15 shots for €10.
- Lebkuchen hearts at Haderner Herzerl Buam: €5 instead of €7, plus gummy bears for kids.
Special menus in the tents
- Kuffler’s wine tent: until 3:30 p.m. half roast chicken €16; vegetarian dumpling dish €14.50. Kids get their own menu with six dishes, such as schnitzel with fries for €12.20 or dumplings with sauce for €5.
- Boandlkramerei (Oide Wiesn): children under 12 can order sausages with fries (€7.90) or cheese spaetzle (€8.90) daily until 6 p.m.
Other tents also feature selected discounted meals, though overall food prices have risen around 4–5 percent this year.
