The countdown to Christmas usually brings excitement — and high prices. But this year, discount retailer Aldi Süd is giving shoppers a reason to celebrate early with its own pop-up Christmas markets. The best part: mulled wine for just €1 and classic snacks at prices that seem straight out of another decade.

Four German cities host Aldi’s seasonal pop-ups

Instead of traditional city squares, the events take place directly on Aldi Süd parking lots, designed as compact and cozy markets with festive decorations and covered standing tables. Opening hours: daily from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Here are the dates and locations confirmed for 2025:

  • 12–14 November: Halbergstraße 5, Saarbrücken
  • 12–14 November: Weiherstraße 10, Augsburg
  • 18–20 November: Maarstraße 3, Bonn
  • 18–20 November: Hagenauer Straße 40, Wiesbaden

Visitors can expect a mix of beloved Christmas market classics — without the typical wallet shock.

What’s on the menu? Prices that surprise

Aldi promises affordable treats for all ages, including vegan options and a few special additions:

  • Mulled wine & children’s punch: €1
  • Bratwurst in a bun (including vegan): €2
  • Crêpes: €2
  • Cookie bags: €1
  • Käsespätzle with crispy onions (new): €2
  • Hot “Aperini” drink, alcohol-free version available (new): €2

With traditional markets in major cities now charging up to €5 per cup of Glühwein, Aldi’s offer stands out as a refreshing counter-trend.

Entertainment for families included

To create a festive atmosphere, Aldi adds small attractions such as:

  • Children’s face painting
  • A mini carousel
  • A Christmas-themed photo station

Music and holiday lights transform the parking lots into a budget-friendly winter wonderland.

All earnings go to charity

Beyond low prices, there is a social mission behind the project. Aldi Süd has confirmed that all proceeds from food and drinks will be donated to the Off Road Kids Stiftung, which supports young people experiencing homelessness in Germany.

Last year, the initiative raised €70,000 — and Aldi hopes to exceed that figure in 2025.
