Munich police are investigating a case of sexual harassment involving a 17-year-old girl who was approached and inappropriately touched by an unknown man on Saturday evening. The incident began inside the Pep shopping center in the Neuperlach district and continued later on the subway.
According to the authorities, the student was shopping shortly before stores closed when the man positioned himself closely behind her in a clothing store checkout line. He allegedly touched her from behind without her consent. Shocked and distressed, the teen quickly left the store.
Suspect followed the victim to the subway
As the girl headed toward the Neuperlach Zentrum U-Bahn station, the suspect followed her. Both boarded a U5 train bound for Laimer Platz, where he again attempted unwanted physical contact, police said. The teenager moved away, trying to distance herself from the man.
When the train reached Innsbrucker Ring, she exited the carriage and immediately contacted emergency services. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had disappeared, and a rapid search of the surrounding area did not lead to his capture.
Limited suspect description — police seek witnesses and video
The victim could only provide minimal details about the man, making identification challenging. Investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage from the mall and the U-Bahn network, hoping to trace his movements. They are also appealing to passengers and shoppers who may have witnessed the interactions to come forward with any information.
Police stress that officers take such offenses very seriously and that any reliable lead could be crucial to identifying the suspect.
Anyone who was near the Pep center or on the U5 toward Laimer Platz around Saturday evening and noticed suspicious behavior is asked to contact the Munich police to assist in the investigation.
