Berg am Laim Neighbourhood Week 2026

Munich’s district of Berg am Laim is getting ready for a week of culture, creativity, and community life. In 2026, the neighbourhood will host its next Stadtteilwoche (Neighbourhood Week) — a week-long cultural festival organised by the Cultural Affairs Department (Kulturreferat) under the motto “Wir machen was” (“We’re making things happen”).

The event was officially approved by District Committee 14 and will bring together local clubs, schools, artists, and initiatives for a diverse programme of performances, exhibitions, workshops, and family-friendly activities.

Kick-off meeting at the end of October

Before the festival takes shape, the Kulturreferat invites all interested residents, associations, cultural groups, and institutions in Berg am Laim to take part in the first planning session.
It will be held on Wednesday, 29 October, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pfarrsaal St. Michael, Baumkirchner Straße 26.

During the meeting, organisers will present the overall concept, gather initial ideas, and distribute participation forms.
Attendance is open and does not require registration — anyone from the neighbourhood is welcome to contribute ideas or propose programme entries.

Festival dates and format

The Neighbourhood Week Berg am Laim 2026 will take place from 25 June to 1 July 2026.
Over seven days, a central outdoor area in the district will transform into a festival space featuring a stage for music and theatre, creative stands, food booths, and community projects.

Each district week in Munich is designed as a free, family-oriented event that highlights the diversity and creativity of local life.
The initiative aims to strengthen neighbourhood identity and encourage residents to meet, celebrate, and collaborate.

How locals can participate

Residents, associations, and schools can get involved in multiple ways:

Submit programme ideas: music, dance, art, theatre, readings, workshops, or youth projects.

Organise activities: from open-day events to neighbourhood presentations.

Volunteer: assist with logistics, accessibility, or coordination during the festival week.

Showcase initiatives: local clubs and non-profits can apply for information stands.

All contributions will be coordinated by the Kulturreferat team to ensure a balanced mix of art, culture, and community spirit.

A celebration of local creativity

Neighbourhood Weeks have a long tradition in Munich — each one turning an ordinary district into a mini-festival hub for a few summer days.
For Berg am Laim, 2026 will be an opportunity to show its unique blend of tradition and modern urban culture.

For further information or participation inquiries, residents can contact the Cultural Affairs Department by phone at (089) 233-27366 or via email at stadtteilkultursommer@muenchen.de.
