Starting November 14, the Munich Airport Christmas and Winter Market opens its doors for the 25th time, transforming the Airport Center (MAC) into a festive village of lights, scents, and sounds.
Until December 28, travelers, visitors, and airport staff can enjoy one of Bavaria’s most atmospheric winter traditions — with everything from mulled wine and roasted almonds to handcrafted gifts and live music. And this year, the market celebrates a record: it takes place beneath Europe’s largest covered open-air space, offering 10,000 square meters of winter magic sheltered from wind and rain.
Ice skating, curling, and Christmas lights
The market features around 40 stalls, selling regional specialties, artisanal crafts, and holiday treats. The centerpiece is a 600-square-meter ice rink, where guests can go ice skating or curling surrounded by glittering Christmas trees and wooden chalets.
A festive forest of fir trees, twinkling lights, and cozy wooden huts create the perfect alpine atmosphere — even for those who are only passing through Munich on their way to warmer destinations.
St. Nicholas, charity and a wish tree
Throughout the six-week celebration, visitors can enjoy workshops, music, and family events. Children can decorate ornaments, make Advent wreaths, and meet St. Nicholas, who will hand out sweets on November 27, December 6, and December 19.
A new feature this year is the “Wish Tree” initiative. On December 6 and 7, wish tags written by children from charitable and social organizations will hang from a beautifully decorated tree.
Guests can take a wish, buy the gift, and deliver it to the “Elchstube” lodge by December 18, helping to make Christmas dreams come true. Additional charity projects will also run throughout the event.
Live music and evening light tours
As night falls, the market turns into a lively stage. Local artists and bands from across Bavaria will perform rock, pop, gospel, jazz, Latin and folk music on select evenings.
For those who want to experience the airport’s glittering lights from a new angle, Christmas light tours are available — a 50-minute guided ride starting from a dedicated booth right on the market square.

A record-breaking location
Held beneath the massive glass canopy of the MAC Forum, the Munich Airport Christmas Market takes place in Europe’s largest roofed open-air plaza — a setting that combines the festive charm of a Bavarian village with the bustle of an international airport.
Even if it snows or rains, visitors can still stroll comfortably through the stalls, sip hot punch, and enjoy the warm glow of the season — without missing their flight.
