On Monday morning, a 50-year-old driver behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán STO lost control of his 640-horsepower supercar in Esslingen, Baden-Württemberg, causing damage estimated at €410,000.
A wrong angle – and total chaos
According to police, the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. as the Lamborghini driver positioned his car in the middle lane to turn right into Mülbergerstraße.
However, during the maneuver he veered too far left and struck a traffic island.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle,” investigators said.
The Lamborghini then slammed into a VW Passat, driven by a 33-year-old man traveling beside him. The impact caused the Huracán — capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds — to spin violently and wedge between a wall and the Passat.
Minor injuries, major destruction
Both drivers suffered minor injuries, police confirmed.
The Passat driver was taken to hospital for observation, while the Lamborghini owner declined medical treatment at the scene.
The Esslingen fire department was called to assist and clean the debris-strewn roadway, which had to be temporarily closed for safety.
640 horsepower meet concrete reality
The bright sports car, capable of 310 km/h top speed, was left heavily deformed — a striking reminder that raw power offers no protection against human error.
Police are investigating the exact sequence of events, but early reports suggest driver error as the primary cause.
The damage total: around €410,000, according to the initial police estimate — including both vehicles and property damage.
Traffic at the busy intersection was significantly disrupted for several hours.
