Kirchweihdult 2025 on Mariahilfplatz in Munich

From Friday, 17 October, to Saturday, 25 October 2025, the Mariahilfplatz in the city’s Au district will once again transform into a colorful mix of market, funfair, and meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

As the last Dult of the year, Kirchweihdult marks the closing highlight of Munich’s festival season – right after Oktoberfest and Auer Herbstfest. It’s a place to stroll, browse, taste, and celebrate Bavarian culture one more time before winter arrives.

Handicrafts, treasures, and rides

The Dult is famous for its variety: more than a hundred market stalls offer everything from handmade ceramics, antique kitchenware, and vintage collectibles to regional delicacies and autumn decorations.

And of course, there’s the funfair atmosphere. Classic rides like the traditional “Russenrad” – now renamed “Riesenrad 1925” – will once again rise above Mariahilfplatz, alongside carousels, shooting galleries, and sweet stands selling roasted almonds, gingerbread hearts, and cotton candy.

For families, Tuesday, 21 October, is Family Day, featuring discounted rides and special offers for children.

Getting there: public transport recommended

The easiest way to reach Mariahilfplatz is via Munich’s MVG public transport network.

To handle the expected crowds, tram line 18 will run with extra trams between Sendlinger Tor and St.-Martins-Platz on both the opening weekend and the final day of the Dult — from about 12:00 to 20:00, every five minutes.

Alternatively, visitors can take:

  • Bus 52 (stop: Mariahilfplatz)
  • Bus 62 (stop: Schweigerstraße)
  • U1 or U2 to Kolumbusplatz or Fraunhoferstraße, followed by a short walk
  • Parking in the Au district is limited, so using public transport is strongly advised.

Opening hours and tips

The market stalls are open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, while rides and amusements run from 10:30 to 19:00.

Even if autumn weather turns chilly, the Dult offers plenty of cozy corners to warm up — with mulled wine, bratwurst, and handmade crafts waiting at every turn.

Local visitors often say the Kirchweihdult is less about excitement and more about tradition and community: a reminder of Munich’s roots, where craftsmanship, friendliness, and Gemütlichkeit meet.

A farewell to the Dult season

For many Münchner, the Kirchweihdult is more than just a fair — it’s a ritual that brings the city’s heartbeat back to the historic Mariahilfplatz three times a year.
As the final Dult of 2025 draws to a close, one thing remains certain: no other event captures Munich’s autumn spirit quite like this.
