For the first time, Munich is bringing its new health project “München – gesund vor Ort” to life with a district-wide event.
On Friday, September 19, 2025, residents of Sendling-Westpark can join the inaugural local health day at Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz.
The initiative aims to strengthen health promotion at the neighborhood level by connecting local services, partners, and residents through a hands-on, interactive program.
Interactive program for all ages
From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., visitors can explore a wide range of activities and information stands. Highlights include:
- A movement parcours and a barefoot mindfulness trail.
- Information stands from Munich’s Health and Cultural Departments, with a special focus on women’s health.
- The Malteser organization offering insights into school assistance programs.
- Fitness activities organized by MTV Munich.
- The Caritas Volunteer Center providing information on mental health and offering participatory workshops.
In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to Friday, September 26.
Improving access to health services
The health day is more than an event—it’s an opportunity for residents to ask questions, meet local experts, and strengthen community connections.
Local politician Renate Binder (Greens) from the district council welcomes the initiative, pointing out that Sendling-Westpark still lacks essential social infrastructure.
“We don’t have a family center, an education hub, or even a permanent community space,” she explained, noting that youth services are currently offered only through mobile programs.
Linking social and health opportunities
Binder emphasized that social and health opportunities are closely connected: “People facing social challenges often experience worse health outcomes.”
The “München – gesund vor Ort” model project is seen as a first step toward filling these gaps, offering residents not only health-related services but also a stronger sense of community support.
