The IAA Mobility has officially opened its doors — both at the trade fair grounds in Riem and across the city center.

While industry professionals gather at Messe Riem for networking, keynotes, and a glimpse of the latest automotive innovations (tickets cost €180 per day), locals and visitors can enjoy the “Open Spaces” spread throughout Munich’s inner city.

Entry is free, and the program offers plenty to see and experience daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tour A: Wittelsbacherplatz and Ludwigstraße

This route forms the grand showcase of the auto exhibition, stretching from Wittelsbacherplatz to the Siegestor.

Porsche fans are in for a treat: outside the Siemens headquarters, the brand is presenting models such as the 911 Spirit 70, the Macan 4, and the Taycan GTS — all available for photo ops and even test seating. Inside the pavilion, Porsche is unveiling the new 911 Turbo S.

Along Ludwigstraße, visitors will encounter unusual vehicles like the “Sherp,” an all-terrain vehicle developed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) for use in disaster zones.

Visitors can also get behind the wheel themselves: Lego and Ford offer interactive stations, while a cycling course invites guests to try out bikes on ramps and obstacles.

The route continues with a test track winding directly through the English Garden, offering a unique way to experience “Mobility Live.”

Tour B: Max-Joseph-Platz and Residenzhöfe

BMW and Mini dominate Max-Joseph-Platz with a dazzling setup that feels more like a fashion show than a car exhibition.

From the i7 and M5 to the latest iX3, the variety is striking. Entertainment is also part of the show: dancers on roller skates rehearsed routines to pop music, adding energy to the display.

A short walk away in the Residenzhöfe, Mercedes, Lucid, and Cupra are on display.

Cupra has created a futuristic “beehive” structure to showcase its models and will reveal a new concept car, the Cupra Tindaia, during the exhibition.

Tour C: Königsplatz and Marienplatz

Those interested in broader mobility concepts should head to Königsplatz. The focus here is on public transport, infrastructure, and the future of mobility.

Lotus is displaying a bright yellow sports car, known from the latest “Eberhofer” film.

Just around the corner, at Marienplatz, the Citizen Lab invites locals, experts, and visitors to engage in discussions about the future of transportation — perhaps even shaping the next IAA.
