On September 13 and 14, 2025, Munich’s Leopoldstraße in Schwabing will be transformed into a lively cultural and strolling boulevard as the Corso Leopold returns.
The street festival is designed to celebrate togetherness, community spirit, and new beginnings, with a wide array of performances, workshops, exhibitions and family activities.
Spotlight on Munich’s Olympic bid
The official opening will take place on Saturday, September 13 at 4:00 p.m. in front of the Siegestor, featuring speeches by Munich’s mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) and Olympic athletes Alexandra Burghardt and Tobias Schneider.
The highlight: the original Olympic torch from 1972 will be on display, accompanied by sports activities and athlete talks to prepare citizens for the upcoming referendum on Munich’s Olympic bid scheduled for October 26, 2025.
New “Youmocracy” partnership: Politics meets creativity
A fresh addition to this year’s festival is the “Youmocracy” initiative, curating a “discourse mile” to foster political participation—especially among younger generations.
Programs include:
- 30 days, 30 ideas – an open ideas workshop
- Debates on intergenerational justice
- The interactive workshop Take-away debate culture
- A late-night format Politics with Punchlines, featuring cabaret and slam poetry
- Music, art and performances across multiple stages
Festival-goers can expect a vibrant mix of sounds and performances:
- Leo Latino Stage – salsa and Latin beats
- Vintage Club Stage – retro vibes
- Theater der Corsaren – theatrical performances
- Traumstadt Stage – music, cabaret, and poetry slams
- Lederhosn Stage – Bavarian dialect, humor and pre-Oktoberfest flair

- Local artists will also present works on the theme of “Transformation” in the New Art Forum.
Guided tours and family fun
For the first time, visitors can join quarter tours with “Schwabinger Max,” including a Saturday evening walk that explores the district by night.
Families will find plenty to enjoy at the “Corso Leopoldino” children’s area near Münchner Freiheit. Organized in cooperation with PA/SPIELkultur e.V., Radio Teddy, Echo e.V. and Sonnenland, the area features:
- Painting and creative workshops
- Games and contests
- Hobbyhorse obstacle course
- Movement and play zones
While children discover new activities, parents can relax at the nearby Sing & Swing Stage with live music.
A festival for all ages
With its unique mix of Olympic spirit, political dialogue, art, music and family entertainment, the Corso Leopold once again underscores its reputation as one of Munich’s most dynamic street festivals.
